Shaun Downey, President and Owner of Downey Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electrical, LLC, was first exposed to the plumbing and heating world as a teenager. Shaun worked alongside his grandfather, Bill McKibben, who was once co-owner of M&R Plumbing and Heating in Bluffton, Ohio. After graduating from Otsego High School, Shaun attended Purdue University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management. Immediately after graduation in 1994, he applied his construction management skills as an Assistant Site Superintendent with a major home construction conglomerate. In this role Shaun managed residential home construction projects in all phases. While in this position he began to entertain thoughts of starting his own business. In 1995 Shaun returned home to Ohio and began his business venture: Downey Plumbing & Heating. He worked out of his parent’s basement as sole proprietor and service technician. From his parent’s basement, Shaun relocated Downey Plumbing & Heating to a rural property. After the addition of office personnel and technicians, the business moved to its current location at 17245 Kellogg Road in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Downey Plumbing & Heating grew from a one man, one truck operation into a family business employing three of Shaun’s brothers, all with construction management backgrounds. Downey also expanded service from the initial plumbing and heating to include all aspects of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical—offering customers the convenience of "One Call for All." Each trade is led by a Project Manager, an expert in field problem solving and diagnostics for customers who also supervises multiple skilled, certified technicians.
As an expert in an ever-changing field, Shaun understands the importance and value of ongoing employee education. He developed an onsite, hands-on training area to ensure that Downey's technicians are not only knowledgeable regarding new products and practices, but also confident, skilled, and able to provide the best possible customer service. In addition to onsite training, all staff continually update their certifications utilizing offsite education.
Downey Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electrical has been in business for over 25 years, actively supporting the community in which they serve. Through supporting local charities, school athletics, and local events, Shaun and his business give back to those that have supported him and his company over the years.
